Luton Town FC 3 - 2 AFC Bournemouth 15th January 2022
Luton Towns inform defender Kal Naismith scored a last minute winner against promotion contenders Bournemouth which will certainly have Hatters fans watching the highlights on repeat!
Luton Town found themselves two goals up at the half way mark by an own goal from Bournemouth's Lloyd Kelly and midfielder Allan Campbell who grabbed his first for the season. Despite the lead, the first half included controversies as Luton striker Cameron Jerome found his shot in the back of the net and accepted by the referee and linesman, however the Fulham management team and players were outraged by this decision and called for the goal to be ruled offside. The men in black and white got what they wished as they pestered the officials and showed them video footage until they disallowed the goal.
The Hatters fans were outraged with boos and jeers heard around the stadium aimed at the officials for the way they handled the situation. This energy clearly fuelled the Luton players as Allan Campbell found the second goal to put the Hatters 2-0 up.
During the second half, Luton sat back and invited the pressure on from the Cherries as they found themselves picking the ball out of the back of the net twice as they saw their opponents bring the game level to 2-2.
During the dying minutes of additional time the game could've gone either way as Bournemouth pushed on, but thanks to the trickery of Luton forward Jordan Clark, Luton gained the upper hand of the counter attack. The referee looked ready to blow his whistle after a few failed attempts by Luton.
But in the last second of the match, the ball fell to none other than Luton defender Kal Naismith on the edge of the box. In this position most players would hit the ball first time, but the Scotsman calmly dummied the ball leaving the Bournemouth defender on the floor as he struck home the winner. Slotting the ball perfectly past 4 players in was placed beautifully in the net as the stadium erupted!
All the players crowded Naismith as orange shirts celebrated, Luton manager Nathan Jones done a knee slide in front of the 10,000 Luton fans as bodies went flying in the home end.
As the Bournemouth players kicked the ball from kick off the referee ended the game resulting in Luton's victory!
