After coming off the bench, Danny Hylton grabbed his second goal of the week, picking out the bottom corner to give Luton their third win over the last seven days. The win saw the Hatters go above Sheffield United into the play-off spots, with just thirteen games remaining.
After a fairly quiet start in the first half, neither team managed to register a dangerous attempt. Luckily, coming out for the second half, there was more action from Luton.
Just five minutes into the half Henri Lansbury tested Ryan Allsop, but Lansbury injured himself in the action. Lansbury made way for Danny Hylton, who came on and changed the game for the Hatters. Minutes later Derby went up the other end and contributed the best shot of the game, Max Bird steered the ball goalwards forcing Jed Steer into a spectacular save that he tipped onto the bar.
Jones brought Jerome into play with thirty minutes to go, with Cornick making way. Seven minutes later, both substitutes contributed similarly to last week's game for the vital goal. Cameron Jerome headed the ball into the path of Luton veteran Hylton who beautifully picked out the bottom left corner, putting Luton ahead against the Rams.
Luton almost doubled their lead ten minutes later when Reece Burke placed his shot into the side-netting after Amari'i Bell excellently picked him out with his cross. However, the score remained just 1-0. With twenty minutes left to play, the Hatters managed to keep Derby out and gain another three points and Luton's fourteenth clean sheet of the season.
An excellent result for Luton as they moved into the final play-off position.
