Huddersfield ended Luton's four-game unbeaten run to go four points clear of the Hatters yesterday evening. The win gave the Terriers a huge boost in their playoff hopes, and in comparison makes the Hatters' task much more difficult.
The match was fairly even, however, Luton's defensive mistakes cost them the three points as they fell short to a 2-0 defeat.
Luton's worrying injury list grabbed two more victims as Pelly-Ruddock Mpanzu had to be replaced by Robert Snodgrass just after half an hour played. The Luton veteran went limping off of the pitch after his own challenge saw him clutching his leg. And fifteen minutes after halftime, the Hatters were forced into another change when Henri Lansbury was unable to continue with a head injury.

Dan Potts came on in place of Lansbury, and straight after his introduction, Luton found themselves behind in the tie. Huddersfield midfielder Jon Russell received a throw into his path in the box and lobbed the ball over the head of James Shea with ease, after not being challenged by the Luton bystanders.
Although Luton were punished for their poor defensive error, they were given a chance to go level with the hosts when they were awarded a penalty with just twenty minutes to play. James Bree was fouled as he made his way into the Terriers' box and referee Geoff Eltringham pointed straight to the spot. Elijah Adebayo stepped up to take the penalty but hit the woodwork and not the back of the net.
After Adebayo missed his penalty, Kal Naismith and Fred Onyedinma found themselves in the referee's book along with Huddersfield's Thomas after a scuffle surrounding the reaction from the spot-kick.
Huddersfield made sure all three points would be theirs when the Terriers 'eighty-ninthsubstitute Sarr headed in their second goal of the match, in the eighty ninth minute, after another defensive error from the Hatters.
