Luton Town regained their Championship play-off status after they defeated Coventry City 1-0 yesterday evening at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

The Hatters' win meant they took all six points from Coventry this season, both games in very different styles. The 5-0 thrashing back in September was an impressive display of attacking talent at Kenilworth Road, but last night's victory was a hard graft in the defensive department to grind out a win and gain another all-important three points.

Dan Potts replaced an injured Kal Naismith at centre back to contribute to the clean sheet, whilst Tom Lockyer and Reece Burke helped protect new Luton goalie Alex Palmer. With a busy schedule, over the past few weeks, Jordan Clark, Luke Berry, and Pelly Ruddock were all given starts in the midfield. After missing the last few weeks due to fatigue, Pelly was given the captain's armband to lead the Hatters out.

Just before half-time Alex Palmer made a crucial save for Luton, he then registered an assist on just his second Luton start as goalkeeper after sending a long ball through to Elijah Adebayo. After receiving the ball in the Sky Blues' half, Adebayo drove into the box before coolly slotting away his fourteenth goal of the campaign.

Luton nearly doubled their score shortly after halftime through Luton defender Dan Potts, however, he was ruled offside and the goal was disallowed.

From this point onwards until full time, Luton made a handful of changes, whilst Alex Palmer made some crucial saves to keep Luton ahead in the tie. The defensive efforts payed off as Luton grabbed all three points away from home, yet again.

VIEWS SPORTS Man of the match: Alex Palmer

After a difficult debut, Palmer faced some criticism from Hatters fans. However, after some settling in, Luton's emergency keeper made some brilliant saves in a great performance yesterday to gain the respect and trust from the Luton fans.
