Luton Town ended January deadline day with a quiet shift as one player joined the club whilst two players left. It was a case for one in one out for the keeper category, as Jed Steer joined the Hatters on loan from Aston Villa for the rest of the season, as club record signing Simon Sluga left Luton for Ludogorets. The only other piece of business made was Glen Rea going out on loan to Wigan Athletic in League One.

Jed Steer- The 29 year old Aston Villa backup goalkeeper has joined on a 6 month loan deal to replace the role of Simon Sluga. Steer had a vital role in Villas promotion to the Premier League in 2019, shown below is one of his two saves against West Brom in the play-off semi final. Steer is shown intimidating Holgate and backing his actions up with a brilliant save. As the only addition to the squad, Town fans would hope Steer can replicate some of these events.

Simon Sluga- Luton bid farewell to Croatian goalkeeper Simon Sluga after two and and half seasons with the club. The record breaking signing arrived from NK Rijeka in the July 2019 transfer window. His first few months for the club were ones to forget as he made vital errors leading to losses in a difficult first season back to the Championship for Luton. But as the season went on Sluga made important saves one against Wigan that was key to keeping Luton afloat during the 2019/2020 season. Over the 2020/2021 season Sluga became a fan favourite as fans were able to come back to games and found himself in a consistent run of form up until the last few weeks. James Shea took his place in net for an easier cup tie, his great performances have been keeping him in the lineup ever since. With Shea being first choice and rumours that Sluga and his family are homesick, Sluga moved to Bulgarian champions Ludogorets on deadline day for a reported fee of five hundred thousand pounds. Wishing Sluga the best of luck with the rest of his playing career. Once a Hatter always a Hatter.

Swansea City 0 Luton Town 1 - Quick Report!

Luton Town gained another vital three points on the road in Wales this evening after beating Swansea City 1-0 with the deciding goal coming from Harry Cornick as he came off the bench to put Luton three points away from the play off positions.

Starting the game, the Hatters made two changes from Saturdays draw against Blackburn, with Reece Burke returning to the squad after suspension to replace Tom Lockyer who drops to the bench. And 'super' Danny Hylton makes his first start for Luton in 2022. New signing Steer also featured on the bench., however Adebayo misses out again through injury.

Harry Cornick scored the only goal of the match as he returned to the scoresheet for the first time since his injury back in November. The attacker would hope to re-establish his fine goal scoring form that he had at the start of the season.

At the full time whistle Nathan Jones couldn't hide his feelings of joy with the win, the Welshman jumped into the away end to celebrate with the fans and performed his trademark chest pumping performance! He told LutonToday- "The game changers came on and won us the game, so complete, complete away performance as to come here and win 1-0 is a wonderful result."

The win would make the long four hour drive home for the Hatters fans more bearable.
