Luton lost against their London rivals QPR as they battled for a playoff spot. Queen's Park Rangers got the decisive goal with ten minutes to go as they went on to beat Luton 2-1 at Kenilworth Road yesterday.
Starting the game with a strong line-up, Allan Campbell and Jordan Clark joined Pelly-Ruddock in the midfield. But after an influential start to the game, Luton midfielder Pelly Ruddock picked up an injury and wasn't able to continue. Henri Lansbury came on in his place and made some impressive passes throughout the match.
In the 24th minute, Luton appeared to take the lead as Elijah Adebayo placed his shot past David Marshall. However, the linesman flagged Luton's top scorer as offside, Adebayo who was unaware of the decision continued to celebrate until the Luton fans signalled him to turn around.
However, the Hatters did net first in the tie when Cameron Jerome beat David Marshall in the 37th minute with his strike from just outside the box. Jordan Clark appeared to use his hand in the build-up, but the goal stood and Luton were 1-0 ahead. The lead would've seen Luton move into 4th position if they kept the result that way.
Just as the half-time whistle blew, QPR were fortunate not to be down to ten men as Ilias Chair used violent conduct as he hit Tom Lockyer in the face. Instead the referee only showed the player a yellow card, to the confusion of the fans.
QPR scored their first goal just ten minutes into the second half as Kal Naismith fouled Andre Gray in the Hatters' box. The ex-Hatter ex-Watford forward converted past James Shea to level the tie.
Robert Dickie won the game for Rangers with just ten minutes to play as his headed effort wasn't dealt with by the Luton defence after a quick corner. The QPR players in the build up appeared to be offside, but yet again the officials didn’t notice. After this disappointment the Hatters couldn't find a leveller even with the five additional minutes to play and were defeated by QPR yet again.
